O American Music Awards anunciou na manhã de hoje, com grande aparato, os indicados para o prêmio de 2021: a produção usou o programa Good Morning America, o Spotify e redes sociais para ir divulgando os indicados pouco a pouco. E a lista completa consagra a cantora e compositora Olivia Rodrigo, de apenas 18 anos, que aparece em sete categorias. Se ela vencer cinco, já bate um recorde, de artista com mais prêmios numa primeira indicação.
Para escolher os indicados o prêmio se baseia em números de streaming, airplay de rádio e números de vendas. Os vencedores no entanto são escolhidos pelo público, que vota online. Além de Olivia podem sair consagrados da noite de premiação The Weeknd, que tem seis indicações, e mais Bad Bunny, Giveon e Doja Cat, cada um com cinco.
Entre os indicados desta ano está o cantor country Morgan Wallen, que no começo deste ano foi visto em um vídeo que vazou nas redes, usando termos racistas. Mesmo tendo se desculpado, a produção do prêmio soltou uma nota sobre as indicações: “Morgan Wallen é um indicado este ano com base em gráficos. Como sua conduta não se alinha com nossos valores fundamentais, não o incluiremos na premiação em qualquer função (atuação, apresentação, aceitação).”
A cerimônia de premiação do American Music Awards 2021 vai acontecer no dia 21 de novembro, um domingo, no Microsoft Theatre, em Los Angeles. Veja abaixo a lista completa dos indicados:
